Randomania

Older daughter got her college diploma delivered to our house. Opened it up - spelled her last name wrong on the diploma - mailer was correct. Don't they have anyone checking these? Yeesh.

Spent the day shopping today. First to McKay's a used bookstore chain in Knoxville, Nashville and Chattanooga. OD did real well on her trade-ins. We didn't take any. Then, on to Target. No Target stores near Cookeville, closest is in Mt. Juliet (near Nashville). Their store is on the small size and the one at Turkey Creek in Farragut is a super Target. Tons of stuff there.

Watching a couple of squirrels chasing each other up a down the big ? tree out front. I have no idea what kind of tree it is, but it's big.

I find it hard to accept that it is only May. The weather, when it hasn't been raining, has been pretty spectacular. Monday and Tuesday were particularly nice, with Monday being nice and cool and conducive to working outside.

Speaking of working outside, this is what we did in the back. Also explain why my knees hurt so much! Top photo is taken from the bench and the bottom photo is taken from the deck. Also plan to plant a couple bushes in the general area where that hose reel sits and a semi-privacy fence on the left of the walk near the top.

Splinters in My Arse

DH and I have spent the last two days arguing .. er .. working on the back of the house. Mainly we have put some cedar mulch and some patio blocks down in an attempt to make it look sort of country garden like. Not that we are done yet, but my back, knees, and arms and hands have had all they can take. DH is easily frustrated because he can't picture what things will look like and yes, he is terminally cheap, but I am happy with it so far. The patio blocks weigh 25 pounds each and we have 22 of them. A couple bushes and a privacy screen and maybe another bench might finish it off.

I made the mistake of sitting on the mulch for a few minutes and ended up with a splinter trying to invade my butt! Ouch!
