I'm guilty, I admit it. I listen to conversations at restaurants and other places where people gather. I can't help it. I am also observant when we are being seated for dinner as I always seem to find the most unusual looking person in the room - you know the one you can't stop staring at.
Friday night my voyeurism extended to the forty-something woman with the tattoo on her lower back. I know this how? Well she was seated on a bar stool with her back to us and the huge expanse of skin highlighting her eagle tattoo that showed on this huge woman was exceeded only by the sight of her butt crack! Really, who wants to see that? Reminds me of the student page when I worked in the library whose BC was almost always in evidence.
My eavesdropping was hugely rewarded earlier in the week, when DH and I lunched at an inexpensive Italian place. Older man came in with 4 year-old granddaughter or great-granddaughter. She was a treat with the million questions she asked her Poppoo. Her order was pizza and it took Poppoo a few minutes of 4 year-old telling him she liked her pizza broken before he realized she wanted it cut up!
We were well entertained!

Styrofoam Snowman
Well, that's what I feel like after packing away all my Christmas decorations. The last storage box was packed away with one of my two sacrilegious nativity sets. One set is my snowbuddy set (little snowmen and ladies not to be confused with snowbabies) and the other one is my black bear nativity set by BearPaws. I just seem to be covered in the bits of Styrofoam packing even after running the vacuum. I wonder if a lint roller would work?

Webbed Feet and Other Weird Things
Day three of the rain. I guess I'll really worry when we start to approach 20 days. Although, I have to say at least it is well above freezing.
I have to laugh at the young man at OfficeMax - even after he commented on the Staples & OfficeDepot rewards tags next to the OfficeMax rewards tags on my key chain - when he complained about the weather. I told him it could be worse - 2 inches of rain equaling 20 inches of snow up north. He looked at me in horror and said we shouldn't ever see that much here. I hope not ever!
There is water everywhere outside and the gullies are filling up. The "s" word is forecast for Wednesday. Ick. Hoping it either drys up fast or freezes so that the huge water-filled potholes in front of our storage unit ice over and make our unit accessible to store the Christmas decorations.
Drought relief - We were down only 5-6 inches for 2008 after suffering a shortfall of 20 inches of rain the year before.

Do Not Pass Go. Do Not Collect 50 Billion Dollars.
I guess I am naive. I figured Bernie Madoff, after being caught pulling off the largest Ponzie Scheme ever would be wasting away in some sort of jail. But no, he was able to post the $10 Million dollar bond (probably only had to pay 10%) and is free. Hello, the man stole FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS! Shouldn't he at least be behind bars. Even a $10,000,000.00 bond should be placed in escrow until this is over - like after his conviction and sentencing. Maybe bond should have been set at $50 Billion?
And the irony is, he'll be sent to some country club type of prison. Put him in a maximum security prison and let the other prisoners have at him. Greed - it's disgusting!

Random Monday Thoughts in the New Year
Snuggie - Have you ever seen anything as weird looking as these "Snuggies" that are advertised on TV? You know what I mean - the robe-like drape that you wear while you are sitting around. They come in three colors and they make you look like a monk? Actually, the men in the commercial look downright stupid. DH thinks they should come in a fourth color - camouflage. After watching DH eat I think it should come in a food multicolor - butter, ketchup, mustard, coffee, beer ...
Weather - The big difference between Tennessee and Michigan? The snow. While all my northern friends are getting snow we are under flood watches and warnings from the rain. Hard to believe there is a drought. Every time it rains, I think to myself - 1 to 2 inches of rain equals 10 to 20 inches of snow. It helps me keep my sanity on this dark and dreary day.
Gift cards - I love them. I love getting them, and I love giving them. DH gifted me with a Hobby Lobby gift card for Christmas. I spent part of it on a combo bulletin board/dry erase board with dry erase calendar. Love it. All because one of my dear friends gave me push pins for Christmas that are shaped like flowers. I needed some place to display them.
School - One kid is back in school and another starts back next week. It is amazing when you no longer have children in elementary or high school or living with you while they attend college, that you lose all concept of the school year. The school year here defies explanation or understanding. The big thing is Older Daughter and Younger Daughter are seeking to improve their situations. OD graduates in May and YD sometime two years from now. It is hard to go to school and even harder when you are working full time. They are amazing young ladies!
