I Thought I Told You ...

All you moms out there, do you remember having that talk with your children, especially your daughters, about people who touch you inappropriately? I was reminded of that when I watched the video of the 6 year old girl being patted down at the airport. Come on! Was that really necessary?

It seems to me that the terrorists won if that is what we must be subjected to when traveling. And whatever happened to probable cause? Oh yeah, Homeland Security. I forgot! Yeesh!

It looks like the airlines won't get my money.

Patricia Cornwell's Port Mortuary

I have been reading Patricia Cornwell books for years. Sometimes they would remind me of my days as a Pathology secretary, even though I did not work for a county morgue. I did transcribe autopsies though for one of the doctors who was the medical examiner for a county in the mid-upper lower peninsula of Michigan. But even his "patients" were no match for the horror of Patricia Cornwell books.

Over the last few years, even though I still read/listened to them, I was becoming less of a fan. Mainly, I think because of the turns her characters were taking. And, quite frankly, you get tired of the paranoia.

As I listened to the last one, Port Mortuary, I kept asking myself "Why are you still listening to this?" I am finding it difficult to like any of the characters at all. Finally, this book introduced a new one - Sock - a retired racing greyhound. Hopefully, he will insert some warmth into Kay Scarpetta's cold life.
