Diary of a New Knee - Part 13 - Mechanics

I came home from the hospital on June 24th and the following day, we discovered our washer was leaking. Both DH and I suspected it was the water pump and a call to Sears for warranty service resulted in a visit from Mr. Appliance who handles their warranty service in our area. Sure enough, it was the water pump.

Two weeks later ... still not fixed. DH called at least twice and then visited Mr. Appliance at their office to try to figure out what the he$$ was going on with the part that was supposed to be ordered. Surely it doesn't take that long to get a water pump? I got a call on the 11th saying the part was in and scheduled for the 12th. Ironically, I also got an automated survey from Sears. I was brutally honest. It is the 12th and still waiting for the repairman. Hmmmm.

Diary of a New Knee - Part 12 - What Day is it?

I passed the three week milestone yesterday. For the most part, the knee feels pretty good. Sure there is pain, mostly caused by therapy, but the knee doesn't wake me up at night. No, that honor is reserved for my siatic nerve in my right hip. Since most of my time is spent either a) sitting or b) laying down, no relief seems to be in sight and the percocet? Doesn't even begin to address it. And all this medication? Most days I can't even tell you the day of the week, let alone the day.

Diary of a New Knee - Part 11 - Relaxin'

After lighting a bunch of citronella candles, the hubby and I will chill out on the deck in the evening, after the heat breaks. Usually, the only sounds are the night critters and the outdoor fan. Tonight was a rare night, no fan was necessary. The chairs are recliners and oh-so-comfy!

Diary of a New Knee - Part 10 - There Really is a Santa Claus

I've graduated. After I took this photo I thought "I should have leaned it next to the fireplace, a la "Miracle on 34th Street."

Diary of a New Knee - Part 9 - bending it.

Those of you who don't know me that well, don't know that I don't lay on my stomach. Two rather large things get in the way.

Well, yesterday, my therapist had me lay on my stomach on the bed with both knees hanging off, to see how far I could bend the right knee. I could feel myself bending it by myself, but had no concept if I was bending it much at all. Brilliant idea - have DH take a photo with his cell phone.  I'm not sure how far Allison bent it earlier in the day, but I suspect it was close to 90 degrees because, well it hurt liked bloody hell! But this bend, I did by myself.
