Yep, it's a glucose meter or glucometer. I discovered this week that I am a diabetic. It is bringing big changes to the lifestyle including these two gadgets. Yes, that is two gadgets.
The other gadget is the lancing gadget. Not so much fun. Mostly because I have not discovered how to get a decent blood sample on the first try. Can we say human pin-cushion?
So we have some diet changes going on here along with twice daily finger-sticking and testing.
I'm sure there are many more gadgets I'd rather have than these two!

Yes, firmly! Some devices have a knob to adjust depth of the poke. Be sure to rotate sites. Running warm water over your fingers first sometimes helps to to get the blood flowing.
